The newborn lying on the pavement was crying || Police rescued after receiving a call at 999

Police have rescued a newborn lying on the pavement of Chittagong city after hearing the sound of crying.

The baby girl was rescued late Friday (April 23rd) in front of the Premier University at the WASA junction of the city’s Chawkbazar police station.

According to police, Al Amin, an accounting officer at Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology, came out of the house at around 1am and heard a newborn crying in front of the house. Seeing the baby, he immediately called the National Emergency Services hotline 999.

After getting information from there, Chawkbazar police went and rescued the newborn.

The newborn baby was dying. He also vomited several times. He was rushed to Chittagong Medical College Hospital.

CMP’s Chawkbazar Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Alamgir Mahmud said doctors said the newborn was safe. A full-time police member has been retained for his overall care. The police will take care of him till he recovers.

We are collecting CCTV footage of the scene. Attempts will be made to find out who left the girl child.

If the real guardian of the newborn is not found, the decision will be taken as per the court order.
