Kaptai Lake stopped Banned fishing for 3 months

In order to ensure the reproduction and natural reproduction of carp in the Kaptai Lake of Rangamati for three months from May 1 to July 31, all kinds of fishing, extraction, marketing and transportation have been banned this year as every year.

On Tuesday (April 29) afternoon, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mohammad Mizanur Rahman said the three-month ban was imposed from May 1 to July 31 for the natural breeding and breeding of carp in Kaptai Lake.

A special VGF card will provide food assistance to about 20,000 fishermen who depend on fishing during the ban.

The deputy commissioner said fishing in Lake was stopped for three months every year with the aim of breeding carp in Kaptai Lake, increasing the number of fry released in the lake, ensuring natural reproduction of fish and enhancing the natural environment of the lake.

In addition to operating mobile courts, naval police will be deployed at important places on Kaptai Lake to curb illegal fishing, extraction, transportation and marketing.

He also said that legal action would be taken against those involved in illegal fishing in Lake.

Rangamati Fisheries Development Corporation (BFDC) Rangamati region manager Touhidul Islam said fishing, extraction, hunting, marketing and transportation at Kaptai Lake would be closed from May 1.

Appropriate action will be taken against those who violate the law during the three-month ban.
