Hefazat-E-Islam wanted to repeat the Shapla Chattar violence in Bangladesh: Home Minister of Bangladesh
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has said that Hefazat-e-Islam has resorted to violence across the country to repeat the May 5, 2013 Shapla Chattar riots in the capital.
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal made the remarks while talking to reporters at his residence in Dhanmondi on Wednesday (April 26).
The home minister said Hifazat-e-Islam vandalized and set fire to police stations and various government buildings, including the land office. They even vandalized the Ustad Alauddin Khan Institute.
Our investigation has revealed that Hefazat resorted to violence to repeat the incident at Shapla Chattar in Motijheel in the capital in 2013. Our security forces are investigating various secret activities of Hefazat.
‘Intelligence agencies are working on those who have financed custody. Some things are coming out, which I don’t want to say right now. How much money is coming to the car account from where will come out in the investigation. ’
The Home Minister further said that the constitution of Hefazat-e-Islam clearly states that they will not take part in any political issue and they will be above politics.
But we have noticed that militants, identified as terrorists, have become entangled in the political fence and become involved with them, creating a volatile situation in the state.
Asked about the Babungari case, the Home Minister said there was a case against Babungari in 2013. He was also detained at the time, then released on bail. I can say that after knowing the situation now.
The Home Minister said action would be taken against all the cases filed against Babungari in accordance with the law.
No one is above the law. Legal action will be taken against the perpetrators.
